McChrystals Highland Ice 8.75g
McChrystals Highland Ice 8.75g
McChrystal's Highland Ice is a fine blend of earthy tobaccos with a tangy highland taste. This mix favors the medicinal spices such as camphor and eucalyptus coated in cooling menthol. The grind is fluffy and medium coarse with medium moisture and a rich brown color. The sensation in the nose is mild but icy, while providing a more than adequate nicotine hit. An extremely refreshing decongestant.

As a noob, I ordered several that seemed to be "standards" and I see why this is one of them. After having only had US Scotch Snuf, this was almost magical. Such a great head feel and aroma. Wonderful snuff.

Highland Ice is unique among the McChrystal's range of medicated/mentholated snuffs in that camphor and eucalyptus are the dominant notes, with the mentholation being very light in comparison. Once it hits the front of the nose, it delivers an icy, soothing blast of camphor and eucalyptus with more distant menthol tones. Contributions from the base tobacco(s) are less noticeable, mostly amounting to the expected mix of earth, wood, toffee, biscuit, cocoa, and citrus impressions. The grind is mediumish, perhaps a hair coarser than many of the other McChrystal's snuffs. Moisture content is medium. The snuff sits in the nose well. Nicotine content is more or less medium. While I usually prefer a stronger nicotine presence in snuffs of this style, this was a very pleasant snuff that was almost too easy to take. It made for a wonderful change from the strongly mentholated snuffs I regularly take. I will definitely be purchasing more of this in the future.
